How to apply for a scholarship

Tertiary applications for the Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship Programme will open at midnight on 1 March 2026 and close at midday on 10 April 2026.
Applicants please note that in your application form, you are required to upload a copy of the academic transcript for your qualification, including the Grading Scale.

If you are shortlisted, you will be asked to provide verified English-translated copies of the academic transcripts and completion certificates.
Applications to study in New Zealand
Eligible citizens from the Pacific who want to study in New Zealand can apply for a Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship online here. Note: Cook Islands scholars apply to their own Government scholarships here.
If you are an eligible citizen from Kiribati, Niue, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, you can apply here for a Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship to study at one of two Pacific universities.

Citizens from eligible Asian countries who want to study in New Zealand can apply for a Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship online here.
Application limits
Please note that the Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship Programme application system may close early to countries with a large volume of applications. To avoid disappointment, we strongly recommend applying as early as possible.
